Handwriting Abilities

Most people affected by learning and attention difficulties experience problems with hand writing to some degree. Around 90% struggle to write neatly and comprehensively, it is often hard to read what they have written. The remaining 10% of those affected have neat, but very slow handwriting.

People find hand writing challenging because the process of hand writing requires very fine motor control in the muscles, which an underdeveloped cerebellum is unable to coordinate.

The exercise programme develops the cerebellum’s ability to coordinate fine motor control which makes hand writing a neater and faster skill to perform. Our research has shown that it is common to see remarkable changes in handwriting.
